Teens who are considering a career in nursing and those who want to boost their employability in general will benefit from career exploration offerings from Moraine Valley Community College’s Valley Learning Center this summer.

Teens who want to pursue nursing as a profession can get an inside look at the career during the week-long, half-day Nursing Camp. The camp will include basic hands-on nursing skills, career discussions and forums with both current college nursing students, as well as registered nurses. Participants will earn a basic CPR certification and practice their skills in the patient simulation lab. The camp runs Monday, June 3, through Friday, June 7, from 8 a.m. to noon at the college’s main campus in Palos Hills. The cost is $299. Registration is required; the course code for this class is LPY4-506-001.

Teens who want to improve their employability skills to help them find a job, perform well in the workplace and gain success in a job or career can register for the two-day Workplace Soft Skills for Teens class. The $99 class provides an overview of basic behaviors, etiquette and protocols that a job-minded teen needs in order to communicate effectively as a professional.
