Palestine flag flies at Mariano’s in Orland Park

By Ray Hanania

In respect to the growing Palestinian community in Chicagoland’s southwest suburbs, Mariano’s food store in Orland Park proudly flies the Palestinian flag, next to the flag of Israel.

Chicago’s Southwest Suburbs is the home to one of the largest concentrations of Palestinians in the Midwest outside of Greater Detroit.

The flags are hung from the store’s ceiling over the large ethnic food section which features food products from around the world.

Under the Israeli and Palestinian flags, you can find Arab food like hummus and Israeli foods like Matzoh bread.
